Way Back Wednesday

The year was 1978. Folks raced for "pinks" back then, on Lakeview Dr. (Do people still do that?)
The car was a gift from my long-time boyfriend, Jon Paul. (Actually more like a bribe; he wanted me to marry him.)
The pic doesn't really do "her" justice, but it's the only one I could find.
Jon Paul had it painted pearl white with ten coats of clear-coat. The dual stripes were candy apple red on the trunk, roof, and at the windshield end of the hood. The paint on the scoops faded from red, to orange to yellow.
I wanted Cragar rims; he complied. I thought they looked really "bitchin", 'specially on the G-60's on the rear.
Thrush mufflers gave her a wicked growl, and the four on the floor made for easy rubber-burnin'. (I've always felt a need for speed.)
The only thing I absolutely hated about that car was the zebra-print fur on the back of the front seats (A brotha was the previous owner.), but seein' as I hardly ever got in the back seat *wink*, I lived with it.
I didn't marry Jon Paul, and I wrapped the car around a tree on Tchopitoulous St. in early 1980. One I regret to this day. The other not so much. I hear Jon Paul is now fat, and semi-bald. ACK!

Weren't we cooool lookin'? Dig that crazy Dorothy Hamil "do".
I chopped the pic to spare you the platform shoes that Jon Paul was sportin'. (Good lord! What were we thinking?!)
*channeling Eddit Bunka* Those were tha dayzzzzzzz.
So, what did you drive in high school?
