Anyone ELSE Do This?

My son is sick. Day three. Someone shoot me.
I raised both of my boys to be independent creatures, but when my youngest catches a bug, he regresses into a sniviling, whining, toddler-like creature that wants his "mommie".
"Mom, I need juice."
"Mom, can I have another blankie?"
Moooooom, I coughed up a lung."
Pansy.
I give in, because all women know that men are USELESS when sick. I flitter about, waiting on him hand and foot, in a caffeine-induced frenzie, for I myself, have not slept much.
I cook all of his favorite comfort foods, and his request last night lead me to believe he may be on the mend.
"Can I have chinese? Will YOU cook it? Can I have both orange chicken AND General Tso's?"
Which brings me to this...
When my children were toddlers and being introduced to solid food, they were fed from little plates, peas in one triangle, taters in another, and yet another would hold chicken or what not.
Enter into school, and they are further indoctrinated to this compartmentalized way of dining.
So why I ask you, does it SURPRISE me, that at 15, this child still INSISTS that the different foods mustn't TOUCH???
