I'm Still Around...
...just haven't been up to blogging.
I did a few "catch-up" dives after being sick, but I also got a call for a, "body recovery" that left me a lil shook up.
The following might be too graphic for some.
I dunno if I've ever mentioned it before, but I was a paramedic in the New Orleans area for over 9 years. I've seen a LOT; blood, guts and gore galore.
Send me lookin' for a vomitus bag? Try. Shootings, stabbings, slashings...seen it.
Fractured bones, near-amputations, asphyxiation, impalement, toxic shock syn droooooome. Try again.
I've seen folks pummeled to bloody pulps, drug by automobiles, crushed by automobiles, integrated with automobiles. Meh. Package and deliver.
Suicides, drug over-doses, bodies left for daaaaaaaays in oppressive, Southern heat. Whateva.
As a diver, I've recovered a body or two. Dependant upon location, water, air conditions, and other variables, I've seen some nasty shit.
Soft tissues go first....tongues, earlobes, eyes, testicles, etc...fishies don't know the difference...and they don't care.
Yes...tis some nasty chit.
I could go on and on, but you wanna turn Lil Toni's guts? Make her cringe? Make her want to hurt someone? Make the "patient", or "recovery", an innocent child.
"Accidental drowning" my achin' ass! Every last one I've heard of, or "rolled" on, was due to lackadaisical or (in one way or another), irresponsible parenting. PERIOD.
This is not up for discussion.
Some rules:
1) If you have a pool, install alarms on all exits that lead to it. Then, put up a FENCE around it!!! With a padlock!
2) Never, EVER, leave a small child in a tub alone, EVEN TO "ANSWER THE PHONE!"
3) Never, EVER leave a bucket, filled with mop-water, car-wash water....WHATEVER... in the vacinity of a small child.
4) If you live on the water....lake-side, bayou-side, otherwise-side, see number 1.
5) Ya wanna go fishin' with the buds? Bring massive amounts of beer? Fine. LEAVE THE CHILDREN AT HOME!!!!!!!
